Viafoura Job Board
frontend full stack engineer
Description
TI Champion (Technical Integration Champion)
Company: Viafoura Location: Remote (Canada) Employment Type: Full-time Reports To: Director of Engineering
About Viafoura
Viafoura is a technology software company headquartered in Toronto. Our CommunityOS platform helps media brands build direct audience relationships: boosting registrations, engagement, and revenue on owned platforms. Our platform is accessed by nearly 1 billion monthly users and is deeply integrated into our customers' CMS, identity management, and DMPs/CDPs to provide a seamless user experience.
About the Role
We're creating this role to close a gap between our Technical Integration (TI) team and Engineering. Today, customer-reported issues that need a real code fix — but not a full engineering project — get routed to Engineering boards and sit in a queue with much longer cycle times than our clients, and our TI and Customer Success teams, need.
As TI Champion, you're the person who can open the front-end code, open the backend code, and just fix it. You'll work directly with clients (through TI and Customer Success) to understand what's broken, then use your own skills and judgment to ship a real fix — in Vue on the front end, in Java/Vert.x on the backend — without waiting on a full engineering cycle. When something genuinely needs deeper architectural work, you'll scope it clearly and hand it off. But your default is: fix it now.
This is a hands-on, get-your-hands-dirty role for someone who'd rather solve five customer problems this week than spend a month designing the perfect system.
Key Responsibilities
Customer-Facing Problem Solving
- Triage and resolve customer-reported issues across multiple client implementations, moving fluidly between front-end and backend fixes
- Work directly with Customer Success, Technical Integration and clients to understand impact, reproduce issues, and confirm fixes
- Own resolution end-to-end for issues that don't require full engineering escalation, reducing the volume and cycle time of tickets routed to Engineering
Hands-On Development
- Write, test, and ship small-to-medium code changes across the front-end (Vue3/TypeScript) and backend (Java/Vert.x) codebases
- Debug production issues independently, isolating root cause across the stack
- Use Viafoura's public APIs and internal tooling to build targeted, lightweight fixes rather than defaulting to a full feature build
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Work daily alongside the Technical Integration team, Customer Success, and Engineering to keep tickets moving
- Clearly document and hand off issues that genuinely need deeper engineering work, with enough context for a clean escalation
- Help build and maintain a shared knowledge base of recurring fixes and integration patterns
Process & Continuous Improvement
- Spot recurring issue patterns across clients and propose fixes that prevent repeat tickets
- Help refine the criteria and workflow for what stays with TI versus what escalates to Engineering
- Track your own resolution time and escalation rate
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with hands-on work in both a JavaScript front-end framework (Vue preferred) and a backend language (Java preferred)
- Comfortable reading and safely modifying code in unfamiliar parts of a codebase without needing full context up front
- Proven ability to work independently — you can diagnose, scope, and ship a fix with minimal hand-holding
- Strong communication skills; comfortable speaking directly with customers to understand and validate an issue
- Thrives in a fast-paced, multi-client environment with shifting priorities and competing urgent requests
- Genuinely enjoys troubleshooting and fixing things quickly, more than building net-new features from a blank page
- Familiarity with Git, REST APIs, and standard production debugging/observability tools
Nice to Have
- Experience with Vue3, TypeScript, Pinia, or Vite
- Experience with Java on Vert.x or another non-blocking/event-driven runtime
- Exposure to Kafka, MySQL, OpenSearch, Docker, or Kubernetes
- Prior experience in a technical support, solutions engineering, or technical integration role
- Experience working with SaaS or media/publisher clients
